Welcome to the Travelling Mum!
An Update
Since the Travelling Mum started, I've had so much support and positive feedback and so firstly I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has been in contact, and asked questions and for help.
Secondly I want to apologise if any newsletters etc have not been getting through - I've had some tedious IT problems to work out, hopefully they're sorted now.
Thirdly, some exciting news! I've been so inspired by all you travelling families out there, and had such fun putting together trip plans and guides, that we've decided to bite the bullet and take the kids on a big trip. We are leaving in September 2007 on a year long Round-The-World adventure with the girls (now 7 and 4 yrs old). The where/how/why details of the trip are now up on our website -
Lastly, although I won't be doing any 'Travelling Mum' stuff while we're away, please do keep in touch, I'm happy to answer questions, and of course all the advice on this website is still relevant.
Happy Travels!
Rachel xx
The Big Question.
Would you have spent a week at a man-made tropical swimming complex BEFORE you had children?
You don't have to settle for expensive imitations just because you have kids!
Maybe this is more your style:
- Previously an independent traveller, often 'on a shoestring' with a few frills thrown in and a Lonely Planet Guidebook.
- Now with a beautiful family in tow whose demands leave you sleep-deprived and time poor.
- Definately need quality time away together to reconnect with each other.
- Can't trust a Travel Agent to make sure your precious time off is exactly right.
- Starting to feel that a 'family holiday' doesn't have to mean a cottage near to home, or a 'tropical' holiday park, or a package holiday with people herded around like cattle.
- A single parent whose fed up with paying supplements and would like to try something a little bit different.
Let me HELP:
My name is Rachel Edmeads.
I've stood on 5 continents and travelled extensively through 4 of them, including 12 countries with the under 5's. Ask me a question (rachel@thetravellingmum.co.uk) and if I haven't been there, done that, then I'll try and find someone who has. With over 12 years professional childcare experience, I've known just about every 'travelling with children' nightmare scenario from embarrasing airplane tantrums to acute asthma attacks.
Client Comment: “Rachel planned our trip to Sardinia excellently. The hotel was perfect for a family with a young child, in a great location. We went slightly out of season, but the facilities and activities offered meant the time we could not spend on the beach was kept busy. All good value.” E. Long, Chelsfield, Kent.
